Feeling a little like Christmas in July? Try this frozen hot chocolate recipe – perfect for those times when you really want a hot chocolate fix, but need to escape from the summer heat. We made this recipe dairy free with Rich’s Rich Whip, Vance’s Dari Free milk subsitute, and Better Batter Gluten Free Chocolate Cake mix! You can, of course, use dairy if you wish. It will be just as frosty and delicious. Our recipe is scales to serve four.

1/4-1 c Better Batter Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix
2-3 c ice
2-3 c milk or non dairy milk substitue (we recommend Vance’s Dari free)
1 pint whipped cream or non dairy subsitute (we recommend Rich’s Rich Whip)
mini marshmallows, additional cake mix, cocoa etc for garnish (optional)

In your heavy duty blender, place the ice, milk or non dairy substitute, and 1/4 c Better Batter Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix. Blend, until smooth, adding additional chocolate cake mix and/or milk or milk substitute to get the flavor and texture you desire. We liked 1/2 c of cake mix to 2 c of milk sub best. This should resemble a milkshake when finished.

Divide evenly into 4 mugs.

Whip the whipping cream or non dairy substitute until stiff peaks form. Divide evenly between mugs. Garnish as desired and serve immediately.
